Earthborn Casein Paint is highly breathable and helps regulate humidity, making a healthier, more comfortable living environment. Casein (a milk protein) and white lime are it’s main ingredients and it comes in a white powder form for mixing with water to create your own natural decorative coating. Simply add Earthborn Pigments to create your own special colours.
Drying time Completely dry after 24 hours. Allow 3 – 6 hours between coats.
Approx coverage 7-9 sq m per kg.
Note: Earthborn Casein Paint is semi transparent when first applied and does not achieve full opacity until completely dry.
Colours on screen may vary from actual paint. Slight variations in colour can occur between batches and finishes; the substrate and texture of the surface can also change the appearance of the final colour, as can lighting.

Casein Paint is a paint based on milk proteins. It was widely used as an alternative to commercial chemical paints before the development of our advanced eco paints. While its formulation is very different, it shares many properties with Earthborn Claypaint; however, Claypaint offers higher levels of performance.
Supplied as a powder, Casein Paint needs to be mixed with water before use and it only achieves full covering power when dry. Casein Paint is not as convenient to use as Earthborn Claypaint and Lifestyle Emulsion, but some people appreciate its smooth, visually soft appearance, which is why it remains in our product range. It can be tinted using Earthborn’s range of Pigments.
No. PVA will partially seal the surface, which can be detrimental to the building structure and result in a less comfortable living environment. Therefore, other than in special cases, PVA should be avoided. First try brushing the surface thoroughly with a stiff brush. If the surface remains powdery, stabilise it with a solution of Earthborn Wall Glaze and water.
